These are some major tourist attractions that i highly recommend:
Bunratty Castle and Folk Park: This castle is the best example of a medieval fortress in Ireland. It was built in 1425 and restored again in 1954 and contains many antiques from the 15th and 16th century including furnishings, finest medieval furniture and works of art which can give you the feel of those times
Brian Boru Heritage Centre: The birth place of Brian Boru, the greatest High King of Ireland is nearby here. You can see Exhibitions showing the arrival of Christianity and Monastic Tradition.
Kilaloe village: here you can try water activities such as cruising and sailing.
Knappogue Castle Banquet: This castle was built in 1467 by Sean MacNamara and it has a great history connected with it.In 1920 it went in the hands of Mark Edwin Andrews who along with Shannon development helped in returning it back to its glory as it was in the 15th century.
Dunguaire Castle: This castle was built in 1520 and its name comes from the fort of Guaire. You simply must attend Dunguaire Castle Banquet. Its popularity is well known and you have to make reservations if you want to attend this banquet. It operates from mid April to mid mid October at 5.30pm and 8.45pm.
Lough Gur: It is one of the most important archaeological sites in Ireland. Highlight of this place:
1.Farmstead dating back to 900AD
2.Replicas of Stone Age Pottery and other arts depicting the life-styles of the first inhabitants of the area.
3.Great historical information on Lough Gur.
The Cliffs of Moher: These cliffs stretch over 8 km and rise up to 70 0mtrs. The Visitor’s Center is open year round 9.30am- 5.30pm, June to August: 9.00am – 7.00pm. (closed December 21st – 27th)
The Delight of Dolphins: The mouth of the Shannon is home to Ireland’s only resident community of bottle-nose dolphins and the playful activities of these creatures is a must see according to me.
